Efficient control and use of energy in Norish's cold store operations has always been placed as a high priority by the Company's Management Team. Norish's relentless practice of monitoring, measuring and reviewing energy costs and consumption has led to the implementation of a number of energy saving initiatives and continuing investment in new technology.
This approach has reinforced the company's Energy Conscious Culture and has resulted in the achievement of improved efficiencies and has provided some ongoing operational savings without affecting performance or service levels. These initiatives will contribute towards reducing the impact of unprecedented increases in electricity supply costs which have been sustained by the business.
Energy Management within the business is led from the top, approval of capital investment to support implementation of initiatives is "fast -tracked" and Energy Audits for all sites have been introduced as a continuous feature of Norish's control over it's operations.
As a result of Norish's approach to energy efficiency, the company's Wrexham site has been selected as a "Good Practice Case Study" by The Carbon Trust's Action Energy programme.
